Commencé au VIe siècle av. JC ce temple ne fut finalement achevé qu’au règne d’Adrien au IIe siècle. Le dirigeant Séleucide Antioche Epiphanes accomplit beaucoup sur la construction du site entre 174-165 av. JC. Aujourd’hui 15 des colonnes d’origine se tiennent encore debout.
